“THE END OF MY TRAIL, WHO KNOWS, WHO KNOWS”

Lately, I’ve read a number of historical narratives and biographies (Ulysses S. Grant, Twelve Mighty Orphans, Unbroken, With the Old Breed, Tough Trip Through Paradise, Steve Jobs, Shakleton and Abraham Lincoln). As I read, I find myself questioning my own life’s purpose and mortality………”The end of my trail, who knows, who knows” (Robert Service).

I like to connect with the unspoken messages authors’, knowingly or unknowingly, convey through their written words. I’ve tuned into how fragile life is, the self-serving nature of the un-tempered human and how compassion is one of the soul’s intangible and deepest traits. I marvel at breaking points, forgiveness and endurance. And, probably, above all, are the choices people make that invite a particular life circumstance to surround them.

After reading books about men’s lives, I always marvel at the moment one finds a new found internal resolve, a decision made in the face of uncertainty. Oft times, there seems to be an unseen hand guiding an outcome, be it the hand of a Higher Source or the hand of a Higher Self.
