NOT ALL HORSES ARE PAMPERED

Ever considered that a lot of horses live their entire lives without being fed a bucket of oats, not having a currycomb brushed through their mane or tail, and never knowing what the comfort of a stall on a winters night feels like? At first glance, one might think, “Oh, poor animal.” However, why is it that horses balk at being roped, buck when first having a saddle put on their backs, and are generally nervous when first experiencing the confines of a stall? Could it be that a horse’s true nature leans towards freedom, and that anything that goes against that freedom is instinctively shunned?

Ever notice that many of those that have achieved success are often able to tell stories of failure, loneliness, abuse, neglect, of hardship galore? Growing up, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s home was the back seat of his mother’s car. When Jim Carrey’s father lost his job, his entire family lived in a van for a time. Woody Harrelson’s father was a convicted murderer. Steve McQueen grew up as a towel boy in a brothel. In facing ‘life’, in all its glory, there seems to be an opportunity presented to develop a steel or mettle of character that carries one through, enabling one to persevere, pushing one towards success.
